JEE Advanced 2026 — Last 13 Days Strategy and Exam Tips from Newton's Academy, Mulund

JEE Advanced 2026 is on 17th May 2026 (Sunday) - and if you are reading this, you have less than 2 weeks left.

This is not the time to panic. This is not the time to start new topics. This is the time to be smart, focused, and strategic.

At Newton's Academy in Mulund West, we have coached hundreds of JEE aspirants over the years. Here is exactly what our faculty tells every student in the last 13 days before JEE Advanced.

First - Understand What JEE Advanced Is

JEE Advanced is conducted by IIT Roorkee this year and is the gateway to all 23 IITs in India. Only the top 2.5 lakh JEE Mains qualifiers are eligible to appear.

The exam has two compulsory papers on the same day:

  • Paper 1: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
  • Paper 2: 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM

Both papers must be attempted. Missing either paper means disqualification.

The exam pattern changes every year - it includes single correct MCQs, multiple correct MCQs, numerical answer type questions, and matching type questions. Negative marking applies to certain question types. This unpredictability is exactly why strategy matters more than last-minute cramming.

The 13-Day Last Mile Strategy

Days 1 to 4 - Revise Your Strongest Topics

Do not start anything new at this stage. Go back to your strongest chapters in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and revise them thoroughly. Attempt 1 previous year JEE Advanced paper every day under timed conditions - full 3 hours, no breaks.

After each paper, spend equal time on analysis. What did you get wrong? Why? Pattern recognition from previous year papers is one of the biggest advantages you can build in the last 2 weeks.

Days 5 to 8 - Target Weak Areas Selectively

By now you know your weak spots from the mock tests. Pick the 2-3 topics in each subject where you are losing the most marks and do a focused revision of those topics only. Do not try to cover everything - it is too late for that. Go deep into high-weightage weak areas instead.

Days 9 to 11 - Full Mock Test Mode

Attempt at least one full mock test every day - Paper 1 in the morning, Paper 2 in the afternoon, exactly as it will happen on exam day. This trains your body and mind to perform for 6 hours straight. Eat, drink, and take breaks at the same times you will on exam day.

Days 12 to 13 - Light Revision Only

No new topics, no new mock tests. Go through your formula sheets, key reactions in Chemistry, and important derivations in Physics. Sleep well both nights. Your brain needs rest to perform - this is not a suggestion, it is a scientific fact.

Subject-Wise Tips for JEE Advanced 2026

Physics - Focus on These High Weightage Topics

  • Mechanics (Newton's Laws, Work Energy, Rotational Motion)
  • Electrostatics and Current Electricity
  • Optics (Ray and Wave)
  • Modern Physics

JEE Advanced Physics is known for multi-concept questions - problems that combine two or three chapters in one question. Practice identifying which concepts are being tested before you start solving. Do not rush.

Chemistry - Your Highest Scoring Subject If Done Right

  • Organic Chemistry reactions and mechanisms - these appear every year without fail
  • Coordination Compounds and d-block elements in Inorganic
  • Physical Chemistry - Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Electrochemistry

In JEE Advanced, one correct answer in Chemistry can make the difference between two IIT branches. Read every Chemistry question twice before answering - the language is often more tricky than the concept.

Mathematics - Where Rank Is Made or Lost

  • Calculus - Limits, Continuity, Differentiation, Integration, Differential Equations
  • Coordinate Geometry - Circles, Parabola, Ellipse, Hyperbola
  • Matrices and Determinants
  • Probability and Complex Numbers

In Mathematics, do not spend more than 4-5 minutes on any single question during the exam. If you are stuck, mark it and move on. Come back to it later. Time management in Mathematics is everything in JEE Advanced.

Exam Day Tips - From Newton's Academy, Mulund

These are the things our faculty at Newton's Academy, Mulund West tells every student the night before JEE Advanced:

Before the Exam

  • Keep your admit card and ID proof ready the night before - do not leave it for the morning
  • Sleep for at least 7-8 hours the night before the exam
  • Eat a proper breakfast - avoid heavy food that makes you feel sluggish
  • Reach the exam centre at least 45 minutes before the reporting time
  • Do not discuss last-minute topics with friends outside the exam hall - it creates unnecessary anxiety

During Paper 1 (9 AM to 12 PM)

  • Read all questions in a section before attempting - this gives you a mental map of what is easy and what is hard
  • Attempt questions you are most confident about first - build your score before tackling difficult ones
  • Watch the clock - divide your 3 hours roughly as 55 minutes per subject
  • For multiple correct MCQs - be careful. Partial marking applies but so does negative marking in some cases. Read the instructions carefully

Between Paper 1 and Paper 2 (12 PM to 2:30 PM)

  • Do not discuss Paper 1 answers with anyone - it is done, focus on Paper 2
  • Eat a light lunch - avoid anything too heavy
  • Rest for at least 30-45 minutes
  • Do a light review of your formula sheets - just 20-30 minutes, not more

During Paper 2 (2:30 PM to 5:30 PM)

  • Treat Paper 2 as a fresh exam - many students underperform in Paper 2 because they are mentally drained from Paper 1
  • Stay hydrated - drink water during the exam if allowed
  • Manage time strictly - same approach as Paper 1
